What makes the Scout different

Both Scout models pair a high-power, torque-sensing mid-drive motor with an optional throttle, a combination most e-bikes don't offer. The torque sensor adds power proportional to how hard you're pedaling, so climbing a technical grade feels like a superhuman version of pedaling rather than an on/off electric boost. Want to skip the pedaling entirely? Engage the throttle and ride throttle-only. Both frames are 6061-T6 aluminum, hand-welded and assembled in the USA.

HPC Scout — from $5,000

The standard Scout is built around a torque-sensing mid-drive available in 750W Class 1, 1500W, or a full 2000W configuration. Depending on power level and gearing, top speed ranges from 11 mph for technical climbing gears up to 40 mph on the open road, all from a single motor system. It comes with a RockShox Recon RL 140mm air fork, a SRAM GX 11-speed drivetrain, and Magura MT4e 180mm hydraulic disc brakes. This is the Scout for backcountry hunters, mountain explorers, and commuters who want next-level performance in a hardtail package.

Scout Pro — from $6,000

The Scout Pro is HPC's most advanced 27.5+ hardtail, built for riders who want elite performance and zero compromise on quality. Every frame is mitered, TIG welded, heat-treated, and powder-coated in California from aerospace-grade aluminum. At its core is a more powerful mid-drive motor delivering up to 3,000W of hill-crushing torque, with the same torque-sensing-plus-throttle combination as the standard Scout, and the option to disable pedal assist entirely for throttle-only riding.

The Pro steps up the component spec across the board: a DVO Diamond 150mm-travel fork factory-tuned for pro-level performance, and an optional Rohloff A12 internally geared speedhub with a 526% gear range, German-engineered for near-zero maintenance. For 2026, the Scout Pro also picks up revised top-tube geometry for a more comfortable ride feel, updated power delivery programming for smoother acceleration, expanded battery options, and a new Military Green colorway.
