Bafang DPC18 vs DPC245: Choosing the Right Mid-Drive Display

Two Bafang displays cover almost every HPC mid-drive build: the DPC18 and the DPC245. Both are bright, full-color displays, so the choice comes down to handlebar fit, features and how much space you want them to take up.

At a glance

• DPC18 ($120): fits 31.8mm bars only, shows the time, and has a separate plus/minus/power control pad.
• DPC245 ($140): fits both 31.8mm and 35mm bars, is less obtrusive, but has no time clock.
• Both: very bright color displays, CANBUS-capable systems and USB output for charging small devices.

Bafang DPC18

The DPC18 is one of Bafang's newest displays and fits the M560, M600 and M620 Ultra motors, plus many other Bafang motors that use the triangle waterproof plug. It has a sleek full-color speedometer layout and shows time, power assist level, trip distance and speed. It also offers a more accurate battery gauge (percentage or voltage), up to 9 pedal assist levels, an easy error code list, a USB port for charging a phone, and a separate plus/minus/power control pad. HPC will program it for you free of charge to match your system.

The limit: it is designed for 31.8mm handlebars.

Bafang DPC245

The DPC245 is a large, high-contrast TFT display that stays easy to read in direct sunlight, with a robust, intuitive remote. It works with 36V, 48V and 52V controllers, is compatible with all HPC Trailblazer models, and works with any Bafang CANBUS motor and controller unit. It has a USB port for mobile devices, and optional Bluetooth connects to the Bafang Go app. It fits both 31.8mm and 35mm bars and is less obtrusive on the cockpit, although it does not show the time.

Which should you choose?

Choose the DPC245 if you have 35mm bars, want a cleaner cockpit or are building a Trailblazer. Choose the DPC18 if you run 31.8mm bars and want a clock and a separate control pad.
