What the Schlumpf drive actually does
The Schlumpf drive is a precision two-speed gearbox built into the crank. On the Revolution it delivers a 2.5X overdrive, which keeps your pedaling cadence comfortable even as the bike approaches 50+ mph. Instead of your legs spinning frantically and contributing nothing, you get a usable, natural pedal stroke at speed. Here’s what that unlocks:
- Comfortable cadence at high speed: The 2.5X overdrive means you can actually contribute power past 40 and 50 mph.
- Up to 20 speeds: Combined with the drivetrain, you get a huge gear range for climbs, cruising, and flat-out speed.
- More range: Add your own pedal power and stretch every charge further.
- Get home on empty: If the battery ever runs out, you can still pedal the Revolution home like a (very capable) bicycle.
