HPC 2000W Sine Wave Controller: Specs & Setup

HPC 2000W Sine Wave E-Bike Controller (48V / 52V)

The HPC 2000W Sine Wave E-Bike Controller (48V / 52V) is a 2000W ebike controller built for hub-motor systems, and it has years of refinement behind it. This guide is the spec sheet: ratings, connectors, how it works with the Cycle Analyst V3 display, and where it fits today.

Important: we have upgraded to the Nucular X6F

All of our systems have now been upgraded to the Nucular X6F controller and the new Nucular On-Board Computer 2.0 display. The 2000W sine wave controller is our previous-generation unit. Every new HPC build and every conversion kit, including the High Performance Hub Motor Conversion Kit, now ships with the X6F. We explain the reasons in Nucular X6F vs Our Previous Controllers.

The 2000W controller is still listed in our store, and this page is for riders who already have one, or who are matching an existing 48V/52V system. If you are starting a new build, talk to us about the X6F.

HPC 2000W sine wave controller specifications

Spec Value
Continuous battery amps 40A
Phase amps 120A
Voltage input 48V / 52V (60V max)
Low voltage cutoff 39V
Field weakening 10A
Regen Capable, disabled by default
Dimensions 6" x 3.25" x 1.75"
Weight 1 lb 4 oz
Price $280

Sine wave operation means the power system is virtually silent. HPC describes it as one of the most reliable controllers on the market, with top internal components and custom programming.

Connectors and ports

Knowing the connectors before you order saves a lot of trouble. The product page lists:

  • Phase: XT150 (male)
  • Hall sensor: Higo, 5 pin (female)
  • Display (Cycle Analyst V3): WP8, 8 pin (female)
  • Brake cutoff: 3 pin JST (male)
  • Temp probe: 2 pin JST (female)
  • Programming: 7 pin JST (female)

If you are matching battery connectors too, our guide to charging connectors covers the common plug types.

Cycle Analyst V3 setup

The controller is direct plug-and-play with the Cycle Analyst V3 display. The display connects through the 8-pin WP8 port listed above, so there is no custom wiring on the display side. It can also run without a display if you prefer.

A Cycle Analyst shows live volts, amps, watts, speed and consumed amp-hours, which is the honest picture of what your bike is doing. Our guide to E-Bike Displays and the Cycle Analyst explains how to read those numbers. Programming the controller itself uses the separate 7 pin JST programming port.

What this controller needs from the rest of your system

  • Battery voltage: 48V or 52V nominal, with 60V as the maximum input. Do not exceed that.
  • Battery current: the controller is rated for 40A continuous, so the pack's discharge rating should cover it.
  • Motor: it drives a hall-sensored hub motor through the XT150 phase connector and Higo hall connector. Check that your motor's connectors and its phase current rating suit 120A phase amps.
  • Extras: a brake cutoff input and a temperature probe input are provided. Regen is possible but disabled by default.

We do not publish a hub-by-hub compatibility list on this page, so if you are unsure whether your motor suits this controller, contact our team before you order.

2000W controller or X6F?

The X6F is rated for 15kW maximum, 250A phase and 170A battery current, accepts up to 90V (21S) packs, is about a third of the footprint and is tuned from the Nucular display or Bluetooth app, according to our product pages and comparison post. If you are building new, that is the controller we use. The 2000W unit makes sense when you already own a 48V/52V system built around it. Ride responsibly

Controller settings change how fast and how hard a bike accelerates. Keep power and speed within the laws where you ride, use street-legal limits on public roads and paths, and save higher-power setups for private land and closed courses. Our guide to street-legal fast e-bikes explains the classes.
